NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Two Boots Pioneer Theater, New York’s Showplace for Independent Cinema, presents an entire month de(a)dicated to Horror and Cult Film programming, including World Premieres of Brand-New Indies, Double Feature Retro-Trash Classics, Horror Shorts, Bigfoot Movies, FREE Screenings, Special Guests Every Night and much, much more! Some highlights:

TRAILER PARK OF TERROR

(Opens 10/3 @ 7PM)

World Premiere!

Based on the Imperium Comics series of the same name and directed by Steven Goldmann, Trailer Park of Terror concerns the evil deeds of undead Norma (Nichole Hiltz) and a group of white-trash ghouls who haunt the titular locale. The film also stars Devil’s Rejects alumni Lew Temple and Priscilla Barnes, as well as Michelle Lee, Ed Corbin, Duane (Feast) Whitaker and Myk Watford. Drac FX created the film’s gruesome makeup.

TOKYO GORE POLICE
(Opens 10/3 @ 9PM)
Exclusive One-Week  NYC Engagement!

“This gleeful sci-fi destructo party mixes STARSHIP TROOPERS with ROBOCOP, then grafts the love child of Shinya Tsukamoto and David Cronenberg to its back, screaming with body horror, and douses itself in a waterfall of thick, bubbling gore.

Packed to its mutated gills with transgressive imagery, this flick knows just when to wink while chewing your head off with a crocodile vagina monster. Behind the camera are some of the most talented filmmakers to emerge from Japan in recent years. Co-writer Kengo Kaji was one of the writers of the brilliantly deranged UZUMAKI, and both of the other screenwriters (one of them director Nishimura) are past collaborators with mad genius Sion Sono, last year’s guest for EXTE and the director of NORIKO’S DINNER TABLE, SUICIDE CIRCLE and STRANGE CIRCUS. But Nishimura’s main chops are as a makeup artist and special effects designer on productions like MEATBALL MACHINE and AKANBO SHOJO, and it shows in the attention he gives to the gloriously violent and gore-soaked effects sequences in the film, particularly a centerpiece fetish party”.

Official Selection: Sarasota Film Festival

‘A respectful, empathetic, and deeply moving film about people who are almost
universally mocked by mainstream culture.’
-Katherine Forrest, Not Coming Soon to a Theater Near You

‘Any story that starts with Bigfoot and ends with a poignant look at friendship and hope is bound to be a little strange.’
-Kevin Walker, Tampa Tribune

‘It’s compelling, in-depth and occasionally hilarious.’
-Bloody-Disgusting.com

In NOT YOUR TYPICAL BIGFOOT MOVIE filmmaker Jay Delaney provides a look at the trials and triumphs of friendship and life in the Appalachian foot hills. Through the experiences of Dallas and Wayne, two amateur bigfoot researchers in southern Ohio, we see how the power of a dream can bring two men together and provide a source of hope and meaning that transcends the harsh realities of life in a dying steel town.

Wild Eye Presents:
THE SATURDAY SPLATTER SHOW

(10/18 @ 9PM)
All on 35mm!

Another double dose of trashy treasures featuring THE SON OF THE NEW YORK GRINDHOUSE TRAILER SHOW, an all-new collection of original Horror and Trash trailers, followed by renowned schlock director Ted Mikels’ 1972 garbage classic, THE CORPSE GRINDERS, and they’re all screened from 35mm prints!

When the owners of the Lotus Cat Food Company (manufacturers of an exotic, high-priced type of kitty chow), run short of cash, they find themselves in big trouble with their suppliers. The two disreputable partners soon turn to a new and plentiful source for product–fresh cadavers! Grave robbing and unreported murders soon provide plenty of raw material for “the food cats crave,” but there’s only one problem–cats all over town have begun attacking and killing their human owners, filled with a newly-found taste for human flesh!

Bone-Crushing Terror! Spine-Tingling Chills! Killer Kitty-Kats!

Wild Eye Presents:
THE TOOTH AND NAIL TERROR SHOW

(10/25 @ 9PM)
All on 35mm!

Get ready for another throat-ripping, eyeball-puncturing night of thrills and trashy chills courtesy of the maniacs at Wild Eye Releasing! First up: Paul Naschy’s 1980 lycanthropic sleaze-fest, THE CRAVING (aka NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLF), which pits Naschy’s werewolf hero against the evil Countess Bathory in an undead fight to the death! Then it’s the Italian gut-muncher by which all others are measured, Lucio Fulci’s 1980 gore classic ZOMBIE. “When the earth spits out the dead, they will rise to suck the blood of the living!” And of course, what would a night at the movies be without Grindhouse trailers and vintage snack bar ads?

We Are Going To Eat You!

CREATURE FEATURE: 50 YEARS OF THE GILL-MAN
(Opens 10/24 @ 7PM)
Theatrical Premiere! Director Q&A following every show!

Made on the 50th anniversary of the Universal Monster classic, CREATURE FEATURE: 50 YEARS OF THE GILL-MAN takes a look at arguably the most successful and popular of all the Universal Monsters, The Creature from the Black Lagoon. We get the backstory on the making and release of the film (and its two sequels), testimony from the cast and crew, not to mention other genre filmmakers regarding the importance and influence of the film series. After all, it was not only a pioneering film shot over two different locations simultaneously (California and Florida), and the first 3-D film shot underwater, but it carried heavy environmental issues into an amalgam of the Science Fiction and Horror genres, issues which are still relevant today.

The doc is narrated by genre great Keith David (John Carpenter’s THE THING  and THEY LIVE), who has become a popular voice-over artist (Ken Burns’ Jazz).

BEYOND THE DUNWICH HORROR
(10/15 & 10/16 @ 7PM)
World Premiere!

Kenny Crawford (Michael Reed) arrives in Dunwich after hearing that his brother Andrew has been admitted to a psychiatric ward, and is suspected in a string of disappearances in the town. With the help of local reporter Marsha Calloway (Ruth Sulliavn) and the eccentric Upton Armitage (Jeff Dylan Graham, HOME SICK) he probes the last few weeks of his brother’s life. As they do so, they uncover evidence of a plot in the works revolving around Andrew, his girlfriend Nikki Hartwell (Sarah Nicklin, SPLATTER DISCO) and her twisted friend Otto Bellinger (Carlos Brum, also in SPLATTER DISCO).

Also featuring Robin Watkins (POULTRYGEIST) and cult film icon Lynn Lowry (I DRINK YOUR BLOOD, THE CRAZIES, SHIVERS).

CREATURE DOUBLE FEATURES:
(10/12 & 10/14 @ 7PM)

A Retro Double Feature series featuring the best (and worst) in rarely-screened monster trash, including:

THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN (1977)
(10/12)
Shortly after returning to Earth from a dangerously botched space mission, an astronaut (Alex Rebar) discovers he’s contracted an illness that causes his flesh to melt. With great, gooey makeup fx by Rick Baker, this is a must-see for any fan of trash horror. Widescreen digital presentation.

THE BLOODY APE (1997)
(10/14)
The most outrageous, drive-in movie take on Poe’s “Murders in the Rue Morgue” ever committed to film. Banned from numerous festivals around the world, ignored by critics and loathed by the politically correct….but now there just is no stopping THE BLOODY APE!

ZAAT! aka BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z (1975)
(10/12 & 10/14)
