Support The Vampire Diaries by Watching the Trailer on YouTube!

Phil Messerer, writer and director of The Vampire Diaries Part 1: Thicker than Water (review), has started something called “The Lion’s Gate Experiment.” Basically, Messerer is trying to get over 10,000 hits on the film’s YouTube page to get Lion’s Gate Entertainment to sit up and take notice of this excellent independent horror film.

You can read his message below:

The Vampire Diaries is entering a promotional / marketing stage so it might be interesting to monitor our progress over the next couple of months. The YouTube trailer currently has 3000 hits. The plan is to try and hit 100,000. It’s a stretch but I think it’s possible. If I can show that kind of interest in the film, I’m betting I can get Lion’s Gate to distribute. Let’s call it the Lion’s Gate Experiment. All of your help would be greatly appreciated. If each of you sends this link:

to ten people and asks them to send it to ten people as part of the experiment, (and the support of independent film) theoretically, it’s supposed multiply to thousands. Either that or you’ll have ten pissed off friends.

For those new to the film, it’s a low budget indie that took three years to shoot on weekends and holidays and such. But it came out pretty sweet. We got very lucky with the cast, in particular our three female leads who I think are all going to be huge stars one of these days.

Anyway, thanks again for joining and supporting indie cinema.

All the best,

Phil Messerer
