Greg Lamberson Announces ‘Deadly Rites,’ Slime City Massacre’

Slime City Soundtrack Filmmaker Greg Lamberson, whose novel Johnny Gruesome is currently available as a signed and numbered Limited Edition hardcover from Bad Moon Books, has announced development of two new motion pictures he intends to direct before the year is over: Deadly Rites and Slime City Massacre.

Deadly Rites was written by a friend named Walt Jantzen, and we’ve been developing it for years,” says Lamberson. “The story is essentially ‘Deliverance meets Helter Skelter,’ with great heroes and villains—really strong material.”

Slime City Massacre is a sequel to Lamberson’s micro-budget Slime City, currently celebrating its 20th anniversary with a soundtrack CD and film festival screenings.

Slime City Massacre is a celebration of the whole ‘80s era of latex filmmaking, not just a sequel to my film. I’m writing the screenplay now, and I already have one investor lined up. Robert Sabin and Mary Huner will be back in supporting roles, and I’m writing the lead for Erika Smith, who’s expressed interest, and a number of other roles for fan favorites. This will be a down and dirty film, just like the original, only with a lot of surprises” says Lamberson.

Lamberson also recently completed a book called Cheap Scares! How to Make a Low Budget Horror Film for McFarland and Company. The book uses his own experiences and misadventures in low budget filmmaking to teach aspiring filmmakers the ropes, and features interviews with J.R. Bookwalter, Roy Frumkes, Larry Fessenden, Brett Piper, Scooter McCrae and others.
