Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors Brings the Best of Horror to Los Angeles April 25 – 27, 2008

Join us at the FANGORIA Weekend of Horrors when it returns to the Los Angeles area Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27 with an exciting line-up of top terror talent from both film and television. Now in its 25th year, for the first time Fango will be held at the gargantuan Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street, West Hall B.

Celebrity scream greats set for Fango’s annual blast include: Clive Barker, the master of dark fantasy, creator of HELLRAISER, CANDYMAN, NIGHTBREED and LORD OF ILLUSIONS, with a preview of his latest films THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN and BOOK OF BLOOD; Rob Tapert, producer of the EVIL DEAD trilogy, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, THE GRUDGE and the new Sam Raimi film DRAG ME TO HELL; Joe Dante, director of GREMLINS, MASTERS OF HORROR, THE HOWLING and INNERSPACE; Angus Scrimm, PHANTASM’s terrifying Tall Man; actor Ray Wise, best known for REAPER, TWIN PEAKS and 24; and the towering Tony Todd, star of CANDYMAN.

Two special horror reunions that will be highlighted include:

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 40th anniversary salute: with George Romero (director); John Russo (co-writer/producer); Judith O’Dea (“Barbara”); Marilyn Eastman (“Helen Cooper”); Kyra Schon (“Karen Cooper”); Russ Streiner (producer; “Johnny”); Bill Hinzman (cemetery zombie); and George Kosana (“Sheriff McClelland”)

PSYCHO movies reunion: guests from all four movies assembled, including Hilton Green (assistant director, PSYCHO; producer, PSYCHO II-IV); Tom Holland (writer, PSYCHO II); Andrew London (editor, PSYCHO II); Chris Hendrie (Deputy Pool, PSYCHO II); Lee Garlington (Myrna, PSYCHO II-III); Kurt Paul (“Mother,” PSYCHO II-III); Katt Shea (Patsy, PSYCHO III); Juliette Cummins (Red, PSYCHO III); Donovan Scott (Kyle, PSYCHO III); Mick Garris (director, PSYCHO IV); and Cynthia Garris (Ellen Stevens, PSYCHO IV).

Honorable scream scribes who will join Fango’s Weekend include: Eric Red, writer (NEAR DARK, THE HITCHER) and director (BAD MOON, BODY PARTS), who will give us the scoop on his new effort, 100 FEET; Craig Spector & John Skipp, screenwriters/Splatterpunk authors of ANIMALS, THE LIGHT AT THE END and THE BRIDGE; and Steve Niles, comics creator of 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, CRIMINAL MACABRE, DC’s new GOTHAM AFTER MIDNIGHT and scripter of NBC’s TV series FEAR ITSELF. Other notables will include Brett Leonard, director of THE LAWNMOWER MAN, THE DEAD PIT, HIGHLANDER: THE SOURCE and VIRTUOSITY; Ted V. Mikels, legendary schlockmeister behind the grindhouse favorites THE ASTRO-ZOMBIES, THE CORPSE GRINDERS, THE DOLL SQUAD and BLOOD ORGY OF THE SHE DEVILS; and Everett Burrell, visual FX artist from THE MIST, PAN’S LABYRINTH, HELLBOY, BLADE and SIN CITY.

Several star-packed presentations scheduled for the Weekend include:

BRUTAL MASSACRE: with star David Naughton (AMERICAN WEREWOLF), actors Ken Foree, Brian O’Halloran (CLERKS) and Gerry Bednob (40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN) and the Ladies of the EVIL DEAD.

BLACK WATERS OF ECHO’S POND: with HALLOWEEN remake stars Danielle Harris and Nick Mennell; GRINDHOUSE‘s Electra & Elise Avellan and actor James Duval (DONNIE DARKO)

EVILUTION: with indie rocker Billy Morrison (The Cult, Circus Diablo) and stars Eric Peter-Kaiser (MIRACLE), Sandra Ramirez and Nathan Bexton

AUTOPSY: with actresses Jeanette Goldstein (ALIENS) and Jessica Lowndes

FEAST 2-3: with director John Gulager, screenwriters Marcus Dunstan & Patrick Melton (SAW IV-V) and stars Clu Gulager and Diane Goldner

A bevy of popular scream queens will vamp across the stage and in the dealers room including: Tiffany Shepis, ABOMINABLE, THE HAZING, NIGHTMARE MAN and new ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES; Patricia Tallman, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, BABYLON 5 and new DEAD AIR; and the Ladies of WICKED LAKE: Robin Sydney, Eve Mauro, Carlee Baker and Eryn Joslyn.

A dealer’s room filled with vendors selling horror film merchandise and collectibles is sure to entice attendees. Plus, there will be a gruesomely gala costume contest, in which the fan wearing the best gory getup will walk away with $2,000 in prices. In addition, a variety of screenings of indie horror premieres will take place Saturday and Sunday in the film room.

New this year will be a Spooks Model Competition (read about it here) and a terrifying tattoo contest. Prizes will be awarded!

On Friday evening at 9:00 PM, FANGORIA brings back the “Shock-N-Roll Spooktacular,” featuring music extraordinaire Nekromantix and DJ Bundy, plus a carnival style sideshow called Freak Show Deluxe. Also, Friday night will boast the Coffin Case Fashion Show, featuring edgy rock fashions. Separate ticket price is required.
