Creepy Maine Film “Adelle” gets Distribution, New Trailer and Poster Art

AdelleElite Entertainment, a motion picture distribution company, has picked up the worldwide rights to Abandoned Cinema’s first outing, the feature length film Adelle. Elite Entertainment will hold the rights to distribute the film for seven years in the worldwide film marketplace. Adelle will be available via retail DVD, Pay Per View, and through mail order DVD rental companies.

“Filmmakers like Andy Davis keep proving that you don’t need a multi-million dollar budget to deliver stunning visuals, exceptional acting and a story-line that stays with you long after the movie is over.” said Vini Bancalari, President of Elite Entertainment.

Adelle tells the story of a young, deaf child who is abandoned by her parents in “dustbowl era” 1937. With no formal education or communication training, Adelle finds herself left for dead in a very unforgiving, cruel world. The film stars Madeline McNulty as the title role, Leo Lunser as the “Carnival Man” and Tim Ryan as the “Rabbit Man”.

McNulty can be seen in the upcoming film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee a film she costars alongside Julianne Moore, Robin Wright Penn and Keanu Reeves. “I am simply amazed at our cast. Not only were they troopers while we shot in the dense mosquito forests of Maine, they also turned in really terrific performances. I’m especially in awe of Madeline and her cinematic abilities. There isn’t a scene in the film without her in it. Her talent is the backbone of our film.” Said Co-Writer/Director Andy Davis.

The film was shot in July in and around Freeport, Maine with a small but very dedicated cast and crew. In 2010 Adelle will reach audiences on the other side of the world. Adelle was a creative labor of love; achieving worldwide distribution means that we get to share our vision with everyone, everywhere – and that is an amazing feeling.” said Co-Writer/Co-Producer Sandy McKeon.

Adelle is the seventh feature length film from director Davis, whose other credits include MUD, I’m SORRY and the zombie film 2. Adelle is the first to see any sort of distribution. “There are talks about releasing a few of our previous works as well, but nothing official yet. I’m really beside myself with Elite picking us up. They have consistently been one of my favorite distribution companies. I was really surprised to hear from them regarding Adelle. We’re really looking forward to giving Adelle the deluxe DVD treatment with plenty of special features” Said Co-writer/Director Davis.

Soundtrack composer S. Peace Nistades joined the film as the official composer. S. Peace’s work can be heard on the films Dark Woods, Road to Hell and Borre. “As a composer and sound designer, it has been a very exciting adventure delving into the sonic world of Adelle and creating a unique voice for this character and her journey. I look forward to continuing this journey and fulfilling Abandoned Cinema’s vision to create a truly unique sound that will compliment the visionary world they have created for Adelle.” said S. Peace.
