Interview with Shannon Razorblade, Asylum Angels Creator

Asylum Angels creator Shannon Razorblade talks to Fatally Yours’ own Angry Princess about her circus of sexy freaks that will entertain you in their own sort of bizarre way. From blood wrestling to breathing fire these crazy bitches have no fear - but you will when it’s all over… that is, if you manage to make it out alive.

The Angry Princess: What inspired you to create the Asylum Angels? Was it just a thought that popped in your head or was this a long, thought out project?

Shannon Razorblade: It started out by having a few of my friends on stage with my old band then I decided to start doing it for my friends’ bands and it just keeps building and getting bigger and better every time.

The Angry Princess: Explain to all of our readers out there, what exactly is a “Gore Core” girl?

Shannon Razorblade: Simply put…Girls that love gore. Blood, guts, headless creatures, zombies, burning bodies, anything horror. Alternative modeling and horror culture.

The Angry Princess: Just say I was a girl who came out to a show and decided I just had to be a Gore Core girl. What would I need to do to become one? Any specificOne of the talented Asylum Angelz requirements?

Shannon Razorblade: My Angels are models so definitely has to be hot. A willingness to play in blood. Outgoing social girls to talk to the crowd and entertain the crowd. We do metal grinding, cage dancing, fire play, play piercings, tattoos, so you have to pick a trade to perform out of those.

The Angry Princess: What kind of action goes on at one of Miss Shannon Razorblade’s shows? Is it an over 18 type of show or do you ever put on PG rated shows for your younger fans?

Shannon Razorblade: 18 and up. Our uniform is a cut up tank top covered in blood with electrical tape AA over nipples and we usually end up down to tape by the end of the night. Most of our models are 18 ‘n’ up on websites such as Headsick Pinups, Brutal Empire, Razordolls, etc..

The Angry Princess: Well obviously you like to “get fucked up and do fucked up shit” considering your role model is Baby from The Devil’s Rejects. What kind of fucked up shit will we see at an Asylum Angels show?

Shannon Razorblade: Zombie shot girls, dead cheerleaders dancing in a cage while girls in camo chaps metal grind all over the cage, fire breathing to Genitorturers, fire poi to Rammstein, tying my husband to the cage and beating him, cutting him with razorblades (hence Mr. & Mrs. Razorblade) punching him in the face, spanking contests, blood wrestling, drying the blood off each other with Asylum Angels t shirts and selling them, flesh pulls, suspension, girls in gas masks and lots of heavy bands. We’re always coming up with new ideas for shows, new makeup and costumes, and different bands, so no 2 shows are the same.

Meet the RazorbladesThe Angry Princess: In the future are you girls planning on touring to different cities to promote your show? Or do you plan on just sticking to your state only?

Shannon Razorblade: We would love to tour!! We have a huge fan base in Ohio already. We are working on a music video for Crossbreed from Florida, so we might be heading down there soon.

The Angry Princess: Do you gals ever tape the shows or plan on coming out with a DVD for us poor suckers who can’t make it out to see these freaky fetish festivities?

Shannon Razorblade: Already on it… DVD should be out by Xmas 2007 It will feature our music videos and have tons of live show footage, plus lots of bonus backstage features.

The Angry Princess: I have to ask, you have a very unique looking tattoo across the top of your chest. What does it mean?

Shannon Razorblade: It is Viking runes and Pagan, Celtic symbols. It represents all of my ancestry and my religion, that’s why it’s on my chest, my center.

The Angry Princess: Of course in life everyone has their own opinions of things. What do you have to say to all the haters out there?

Shannon Razorblade: Hate is a natural human emotion, you can’t have love without hate… I’m a big balance fan, good and evil. I try to keep everything I do balanced. I keep my mean opinions to myself (unless it needs to be said).

The Angry Princess: Thanks so much for talking to us, it’s been a pleasure. Could you just fill us in on what we can find in Miss Razorblade’s future?

Shannon Razorblade: Jay Sin Razorblade and I are getting married this Halloween so I’m looking forward to that. I’m hoping to get myself and as many Angels as possible into horror movies. I’m hoping to be on as many CD covers and music videos as possible. Looking forward to whatever the future holds for myself and my Asylum Angels. Thanks so much, we love your site.
